# The blacklist

Items Sorted never moves: they stay in their slot through a sort, in your inventory or in a chest, and the transfers leave them where they are.

Hold Alt and Shift and click an item to put it on the blacklist. Sorted then never moves it. Where you click it decides where that holds: in your inventory, or in a chest.

## In your inventory

Alt+Shift+Click an item in your inventory, or in the inventory half of a chest screen. While it is in your inventory, Sorted never moves it:

* Sorting your inventory leaves it in its slot and sorts everything else around it. This is how you make a favourite slot.
* Quick Stack, Quick Empty and the nearby transfers leave it with you.

## In a chest

Alt+Shift+Click an item in a chest, barrel, shulker box or other container. While it is in a container, Sorted never moves it:

* Sorting the chest leaves it in its slot.
* **Pull All** and **Quick Fill** leave it in the chest.

The two are separate lists. An item on the inventory list is still sorted when it is in a chest, and the other way round. Put it on both to have it left alone everywhere.

## Take it off

* Alt+Shift+Click it again, in the same place: in your inventory for the inventory list, in a chest for the containers list.
* Hold Alt to see which stacks are on the list: they have a padlock mark. Kept items have an arrow mark instead.
* The action bar says what you set.

## Renamed and server items

A renamed item, or an item a server made, is put on the list by its name. A server plugin's backpack is often a plain chest or head with a name, so blacklisting it covers only that backpack, not every chest or head you carry.

## The blacklist screen

Type `/sorted blacklist`, or press **Open** next to [**Item blacklist**](https://voxelsprout.com/sorted/wiki/settings#setting-item-blacklist) in the Sorting tab of the settings.

* **Inventory** and **Containers**, at the top left, switch between the two lists.
* Type to search the list, or to add an item you are not carrying.
* Remove an item with the button on its row.
* **Clear all** empties the list shown, and asks for a second click. The other list stays as it is.

## Items a server will not let move

On a server, some items open a screen when you click them, or cannot be moved at all. Sorted leaves those alone on its own and remembers them per server, without them being on the blacklist. See [Items that stay put](https://voxelsprout.com/sorted/wiki/servers#items-that-stay-put).
