# The buttons

Which buttons Sorted adds to the inventory and chest screens, and what each one does.

The buttons sit in vanilla button frames, so a resource pack that restyles buttons restyles these too. Their icons are sprites that a pack can replace. Hover a button to see what it does.

## Under your inventory

In your own inventory and in every chest, from left to right:

| Button      | What it does                                                                                                                                           |
| ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Search      | Opens the [Search](https://voxelsprout.com/sorted/wiki/search). The same as \`.                                                                                               |
| Quick Empty | Only with a chest open. Moves your main inventory into the chest. See [Quick Fill, Quick Empty and Pull All](https://voxelsprout.com/sorted/wiki/quick-fill-and-pull).        |
| Quick Fill  | Tops up the stacks you carry: from the open chest, or from the chests around you.                                                                      |
| Quick Stack | Puts items away in the chests that already hold them: into the open chest, or into the chests around you. See [Quick Stack](https://voxelsprout.com/sorted/wiki/quick-stack). |
| Sort        | Sorts your inventory. See [Sorting your inventory](https://voxelsprout.com/sorted/wiki/sorting-your-inventory).                                                               |

## Above a chest

| Button   | What it does                                                        |
| -------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Pull All | Moves everything in the chest into your inventory.                  |
| Sort     | Sorts the chest. See [Sorting chests](https://voxelsprout.com/sorted/wiki/sorting-chests). |

These show on chests, barrels, shulker boxes and ender chests.

## Clicks and modifiers

| Click                     | What it does                                                                        |
| ------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Click a sort button       | Sorts. In a chest, the layout is picked for you.                                    |
| Shift+Click a sort button | Sorts in columns, one kind of thing per column.                                     |
| Ctrl+Click a sort button  | Sorts in rows, one kind of thing per row.                                           |
| Shift+Click Quick Stack   | Also puts away items that have no chest yet.                                        |
| Alt+Click an item         | Keeps it: it is never sent to a chest. See [The keep list](https://voxelsprout.com/sorted/wiki/keep-list). |
| Alt+Scroll an item        | Keeps more or fewer stacks of it.                                                   |

On a Mac, Ctrl+Click can reach the game as a right-click. A right-click on a sort button does the same as Ctrl+Click, so rows work either way.

## Where the buttons do not show

* In the creative inventory.
* In chest screens a server uses as a shop or a menu. See [Servers](https://voxelsprout.com/sorted/wiki/servers).
* On servers where Sorted is switched off.
