About Wildform

What is Wildform?

A Fabric mod for Minecraft that places trees from the tree generator. You can plant one tree where you point, or paint a forest with a brush that spaces trees by their crowns, groups them in stands and lets each species grow in patches.

Is it out yet?

Not yet. It works and is being tested, but the first version is not released. Early builds and news go out on Discord first. The Modrinth page goes live with the first release.

Is it free?

Yes. Wildform is free to download and use. It is not open source: the license is All Rights Reserved, like the other VoxelSprout mods.

Which Minecraft versions does it support?

Minecraft 26.1 to 26.3 on Fabric, with Fabric Loader 0.16 or newer, Fabric API and Java 25. One file runs on all of them.

Is this a world generation mod?

No. Wildform does not change how new chunks generate. It is a building tool: you choose where the trees go.

How many tree species are there?

Every species the tree generator has, in groups: temperate, boreal, wetland, dry, tropical, understorey, worked trees, bonsai and dead wood. When the generator gets a new species, Wildform has it too, without an update.

Can I put it in a modpack?

Ask first. The license does not allow redistribution without permission; ask on Discord.

Servers and survival

Does the server need Wildform?

No. Wildform runs on your client only. On a server it places blocks with what the server already lets you use: Axiom, /fill or WorldEdit. With none of those, it can put the trees into a BuildPrint blueprint for you to build. See Placing on servers.

Does it work on servers?

Yes, as far as the server allows. Wildform picks the first way that works: Axiom through the server's plugin, /fill when you are an operator, then WorldEdit. When a server refuses a method, Wildform stops using it on that server and shows you the server's reason.

Placing on servers has been tried on a few servers so far. Reports of servers where it does not work are welcome on Discord.

Can I use it in survival?

Yes, with BuildPrint. Painting from survival, Wildform puts the trees into a BuildPrint blueprint instead of the world. BuildPrint shows them as a ghost build with a material list, and easy place can put the blocks down. Trees do not appear for free. See BuildPrint and survival.

In the tree picker, Blocks: placeable by hand makes the generator use only blocks a player could place in survival.

Does it work with Axiom, WorldEdit and BuildPrint?

Yes. It can place through Axiom (the server plugin or the Axiom mod), WorldEdit and FAWE, and it can fill a BuildPrint blueprint. Paint mode's keys go first while it is on, so they do not also trigger Axiom's. With BuildPrint installed, BuildPrint's panels step aside while you paint.

Using it

Does it need an internet connection?

Yes. Trees are grown by the tree generator on voxelsprout.com and fetched when you need them. Trees you used before are kept on your computer, so they come back without a new download.

Do I need a VoxelSprout account?

No. Without one, saved trees stay on your computer. Signed in, they are kept in your VoxelSprout library, and the species and palettes you made on the website show up in the game. Signing in is done in the browser: you check a code and press Approve, no password is typed in the game.

Can I undo a forest?

Yes. Z undoes a whole stroke and Y redoes it. Ghost trees are undone first, then planted strokes. The eraser is a step in the history too. Undo covers the current session. See Ghosts and undo.

Will it wreck my builds?

By default a tree grows around anything solid in its way (Replaces: air, plants). Roots push through soil, sand, gravel and stone, never through anything built. The ground setting decides where the brush plants: natural ground only, unless you choose otherwise.

Does it work with modded blocks?

Modded soil counts as natural ground when its mod tags it as dirt or sand. Any other block, modded ones too, can be picked as ground with G. See Ground and slope.

Where do I report a bug?

On Discord. The reason shown on the Placing page of the brush panel helps a lot when placing fails on a server.
