Questions about Sorted

It adds a few buttons to your inventory and chest screens. They sort, move items to and from the chests around you, and search everything you have put away. It also shows what is inside shulker boxes, and chests and barrels if you want, without opening them.

Fabric on Minecraft 1.21 to 1.21.3, 1.21.10 and 1.21.11, and 26.1 to 26.3. There is one file per range, and the Modrinth app picks the right one for you.

1.21.11 and 26.3 are played before each release. The others are built from the same code but not tested each time, so a bug report for them helps.

On NeoForge, the Fabric file runs with Sinytra Connector and Forgified Fabric API in place of Fabric API. That is not tested before each release. There is no Forge version.

No. Sorted only runs on your client. It works on vanilla servers, Realms and in modpacks.

Type /sorted config, or open Sorted from Mod Menu. Every option is on the Settings page.

It runs on your client, so it works on any server you can join. It moves items with the same clicks you would make by hand, only faster. Some servers do not allow inventory mods, so check the rules.

Sorted has a list of servers that ban this kind of mod, and switches itself off completely when you join one. See Servers.

Some anti-cheat plugins kick for fast clicking. If a server kicks you while a sort is running, Sorted slows down on that server and remembers it: 80, then 40, 20, 10 and 5 actions a second, until the kicks stop.

You can also set the speed yourself with Actions per tick. The default is 15 a tick, about 300 a second. In singleplayer everything happens at once.

Servers use chest screens for shops, auction houses and menus. When a chest looks like one of those, Sorted hides its buttons there, so a click can never buy something.

If it is a real chest, type /sorted menuguard off to turn this off on that server, or add the chest title to Always-allow menu titles.

Yes, the ones it has no recent record of. A server only tells your game what is in a chest when you open it, so Quick Stack opens those chests, reads them and closes them again. You hear the lids. Chests it already knows are only opened to put something in.

That server is on the built-in list of servers that do not allow automation. On those, Sorted does nothing at all, the same as not having it installed. You can turn the list off with Built-in server blacklist, but those servers ban mods like this one.

On purpose. Your hotbar is where you put things so you can reach them, so sorting only touches the main inventory.

By what things are, not by their names. Tools, weapons and armor come first, then food, then blocks grouped by material, then the rest. In a chest, a redstone chest gets dust and repeaters together and pistons after them, and a wood chest gets a row per kind of wood. See Sorting chests.

Quick Stack only puts an item in a chest that already holds a fair amount of it, or of the same material. One stray item in a chest full of other things does not count, so that chest is skipped. Items with no chest stay with you.

Shift+Click Quick Stack to put those away too, in the chest that fits best. Also check the The keep list: kept items never leave.

Yes, two options, both off by default. Auto-sort inventory on pickup re-sorts your inventory when you pick something up, once you have sorted it by hand at least once. Auto-sort containers on open sorts a chest when you open it, in the layout you last used on it.

With a chest open: Quick Empty moves your main inventory into the chest, Quick Fill tops up the stacks you carry from the chest, and Pull All moves the whole chest into your inventory. In your own inventory, Quick Fill tops up from the chests around you. See Quick Fill, Quick Empty and Pull All.

Sorted remembers where everything was. When you pick your items back up within 8 minutes, they go back to the slots they were in, hotbar and armor included. See After you die.

It shows what was in each container the last time you opened it. On a server another player may have changed it since. Open the chest again, or turn on Auto-scan nearby containers to read containers within reach as you walk past.

On your computer, in .minecraft/cache/sorted/, one file per world and per server. Nothing is uploaded. Clear current world cache in the settings deletes the one for where you are.

Labels on chests and barrels are off by default. Turn on Chests and Barrels under Container labels. On a server, a container shows its contents after you have opened it once. Labels are hidden behind walls and past Range (blocks).

Yes. With both installed, BuildPrint's material list shows how many of each block are in your chests, and can light those chests up.

Sorted checks for this at the end of every sort and puts the item back in a slot. If it still happens, send the log: Sorted writes a line there each time it has to.
