Why a spot was passed over, and what the messages mean.
When a spot is passed over #
While you paint, the HUD counts the spots the brush skipped and why (Passed over: ...). A lot of one reason usually means a setting to change.
| Reason | What it means |
|---|---|
| no ground | There is nothing solid under that spot within reach. |
| not natural ground | Ground is set to natural, and the block there is stone, planks, a roof or something else that is not soil. |
| not the ground you chose | Ground is set to what the stroke starts on, or to blocks you picked, and this block is neither. |
| water | The spot is under water. Trees are not planted in water. |
| a tree is here | The spot is under the crown of a tree that was there before. The brush leaves existing trees alone. |
| too close to another tree | There is no room beside the trees already placed at this density. |
| too steep | The ground under the trunk rises or falls more than the Slope limit. |
| tree on its way | The tree this spot asks for is still being fetched. The brush paints elsewhere and comes back to it. |

| Message | What to do |

| No way to place here | None of the ways to place works where you are. The Placing page of the brush panel says why for each one. On a server without permissions, install BuildPrint to paint into a blueprint. |
| The next tree is still on its way | The tree is being fetched from voxelsprout.com. The first trees of a new species take longest; other ages and sizes are fetched ahead in the background. |
| Loading the species list... | Wildform could not reach voxelsprout.com yet. Check your connection and click the message to try again. Trees you used before still work from the cache. |
| Stopped ...: the server said ... | The server refused a command, so Wildform stopped using that method on this server. Fix the permission, then reconnect. |
| Nothing to place there: every spot is taken | The brush found no room. Lower the density, or paint somewhere else. |
| That's 300 ghost trees, the most at once | Press Enter to plant them, then paint on. |
Other mods #
While paint mode is on, its keys go first and are not passed on, so Axiom's R and similar keys from other mods stay quiet. With BuildPrint installed, its panels step aside while you paint. If another mod still reacts, report it on Discord with the mod's name.
